Fragmentos de un crimen

During the last summer of Popular Unity (1973: government of Salvador Allende), a dismembered body is found in the northern sector of Chile. Days later, a woman is found murdered by suffocation in her bathtub. Both are Spanish citizens who could not escape from the chaotic and violent Santiago. It is the case of a perfect crime that forty-five years after its completion still has no answers. The novel is narrated in the present tense (2018) by a young thesis student of the Law School, who investigates this criminal case for her degree. She is accompanied by her partner, a literature teacher at the public school "Poeta de Chile". At the same time, he begins to write the novel, to become a sort of chronicler of the experience. Both are not guessing yet that the ghosts of the past will resurrect and alter their lives. They will discover not only an horrible case of double murder but also the crimes of the military dictatorship in the hidden notebooks of one of the police officers who investigated the case. In addition to this, the young couple starts to be threatened and new deaths generate a climate of harassment and terror. A come back of the killer(s), 45 years later.

Max Valdés Avilés. Novelist, storyteller, editor, anthologist, children's literature writer. He holds a Publishing Master from the Diego Portales University and from the Pompeau Fabra University in Barcelona, and a Diploma in Art studies specialised in Sculpture from the Catholic University of Chile. Creative writing professor at the Andrés Bello University and language teacher at the rural school El Robledal de Caleu. El último verano de la Unidad Popular (1973: gobierno de Salvador Allende) un cuerpo descuartizado es hallado en el sector norte de Chile. Días después una mujer es hallada asesinada por asfixia en la tina de su baño. Ambos son ciudadanos españoles que, producto de los homicidios, no logran huir del Santiago caótico y violento.Es el caso de un crimen perfecto que a cuarenta y cinco años de su realización aún no tiene respuestas. La novela es narrada en tiempo presente (2018) por una joven tesista de la Escuela de Derecho,quien investiga este caso criminal para su titulación.Es acompañada por su pareja, un profesor de literatura en la escuela pública “Poeta de Chile”, es éste quien, a la par, comienza a escribir la novela en su afán de transformarse en una suerte de cronista de la experiencia. Ambos no sospecharán que los fantasmas del pasado volverán a resucitar y alterarán sus vidas. Descubrirán no solo un caso horrible de doble asesinato si no también los crímenes de la dictadura militar en los cuadernos ocultos de uno de los policías que investigó el caso. Sumado a esto, comenzarán las amenazas a la joven pareja y, nuevas muertes que generarán un clima de acoso y terror. Finalmente, el (los) asesino (s) ha (n)regresado para manifestarse 45 años después.
