Ana María Guiraldes was born in Linares, Chile. Her grandmother's narratives opened her imagination and caused the literary instinct to manifest at an early age. At the age of nine, inspired by her plum tree left leafless by winter and encouraged by her mother, she wrote her first poem.
She studied pedagogy in Spanish at the Catholic University of Chile, but never practiced, dedicating herself entirely to writing. She has published more than sixty books of great success among children due to her playful and musical style.

Ana María Guiraldes nació en Linares, Chile. Las narraciones de su abuela abrieron su imaginación y provocaron que el instinto literario se manifestara a muy temprana edad. A los nueve años, inspirada en su ciruelo deshojado por el invierno y animada por la mamá, escribió su primer poema.
Estudio pedagogía en Castellano en la Universidad Católica de Chile, pero nunca ejerció, dedicándose por completo al oficio de escritora. Ha publicado más de sesenta libros de gran éxito entre los niños debido a su estilo musical y juguetón.
