Martín Gris – HOTLIST 2020

Martín is a child who lives scared to death. He is not afraid of spiders or earthquakes, but of something much worse: he is afraid that others will not like him. To face this fear, his mother, with great affection, teaches him what is really important in life. She allows him to see the positive in all situations and in this way favors his emotional development.

With a novel design and attractive illustrations, which accompany the story very well, its author-illustrator shows us in this album the importance of loving oneself.

Zuriñe Aguirre is an author-illustrator and designer (www.zuaguirre.es). Many people call her Zu. She was born in Spain, in Vitoria, although now she lives in Seville. She likes to draw, Chinese ink, textures, textile design, children's stories, different and special things... and her favorite character is Mafalda. She loves the lights and shadows, the colors that convey joy and serenity, playing with the silences and noises in the illustrations and the different challenges in each project. She is in love with the pattern design that she applies to her creations. She enjoys teaching courses on Children's Illustration and Print Design at the University of Fine Arts in Seville. Her works have been published by Spanish, English, South Korean, New Zealand and North American publishers. And Martín Gris is the first of her books published in Chile.

Martín es un niño que vive muerto de susto. No le tiene miedo ni a las arañas ni a los terremotos, sino a algo mucho peor: teme no gustarle a los demás.

Frente a ese temor su madre, con gran cariño, le va enseñando lo que es realmente importante en la vida. Ella le permite ver lo positivo de todas las situaciones y de esta manera favorece su desarrollo emocional.

Zuriñe Aguirre es ilustrautora y diseñadora (www.zuaguirre.es). Mucha gente la llama Zu. Nació en España, en Vitoria, aunque ahora vive en Sevilla. Le gusta dibujar, la tinta china, las texturas, el diseño textil, los cuentos infantiles, las cosas diferentes y especiales... y su personaje favorito es Mafalda. Le encantan las luces y las sombras, los colores que transmiten alegría y serenidad, jugar con los silencios y los ruidos en las ilustraciones y los retos diferentes en cada proyecto. Está enamorada del diseño de estampados que aplica en sus creaciones. Disfruta impartiendo cursos sobre Ilustración Infantil y Diseño de Estampados en la Universidad de Bellas Artes de Sevilla. Sus obras las ha publicado en editoriales españolas, inglesas, surcoreanas, neozelandesas y norteamericanas. Y Martín Gris es el primer libro que publica en Chile.
